Google has a much-needed fix to improve the performance of graphical Linux apps on Android. Here's what's changing and why it matters.

Why run Linux apps on Android when you can run Android apps on Linux?

To me a temporary solution (which may be many years) where hardware support is real good on Android but terrible on Linux for these phones. In particular the high end chips. On Linux I rarely ever want to use an Android app. On Android it’d be cool to dock my phone and use Linux applications

Hopefully that’ll attract more contributors and donations to linux apps.

Lemmers can’t stand people being part of a flock. Unless it’s their flock. Don’t you dare to have an opinion here!

Crazy thing to think that corporations aren’t bad. Especially Google who has a track record of just breaking shit when they decide they no longer want to be in that market anymore.

What does a freethinker think about Google’s recent decision to block access to apps they haven’t approved?

It’s all well and good until they kill it (see Nest devices, Hangouts, Stadia…there’s hundreds)

Not to mention that, since they have so much control over everything (Chrome, Google Search, gmail, g suite, google drive, android, youtube, google play, google ads, google dns, etc. like holy they have EVERYTHING) they are almost guaranteed to have a scarily comprehensive data profile of every person who has ever touched the internet. Of course, being a company, they’re selling that data for profit. Not very nice of them at all. Hence why many people are attempting to degoogle…
