Personally I am using a netbook like this as a headless server with Ubuntu.
You can try to run Lubuntu, or even TinyCore and Puppy Linux on this for simple tasks.
Generally speaking, with 1GB of ram and Intel atom, as you stay away from video streaming platforms and use simple tools for writing text or run simple code in python, you would be fine. However with less than 100€ you can find laptops with core i5 4rd generation with 8gb ram. I am not sure if it worths it.
Now try to use most of Banking applications (even McDonalds app lol) Most of these application require Google Play Integrity. So practically, you are enforced to use Google Play Services or buy a second device to run android with gapps and then power it off (that’s what I did)
But in most of OEMs you cannot relock the bootloader with your own key…
Many applications especially banks require Google Safetynet to be functional, even without root. I am running DivestOS, a hardened version of LineageOS without gapps, and I can’t have access on my bank because I chose freedom. Democracy at its finest…
Fedora Silverblue! 😊
Immutable Linux is the future (and any container-based filesystem )
No one wants 32GB Ram and 12 core 9.2ghz on his phone, we don’t need a new phone every H-3 years anymore.
Time Traveling is a thing as we can see
I found a solution for docker: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2237396
There is a new upgrade available, try if it fixes your issue.
Already done, still not working :(
Edit: Fedora got an upgrade today and vm-manager works again without any issue. Docker remains broken, maybe its matter of time. Thank you for your response!!!

Well…lets pretend that with SafetyNet they don’t enforce people to stay away from Foss android. I mean, yes, I am running DivestOS, but a lot of APS are not working because they need Google Play Services. Some other they don’t even want you to have an unlocked bootloader. Most of Android devices do not support relocking your bootloader…
No, Fairphone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, as a result they cannot in practice provide vendor updates for more than 5 years. They will just “increase” the version number and just provide typical android security patches.
Personally I have set up my own Nextcloud with wireguard to be able to see my files worldwide. Also, I bought a USB flash drive of 256gb from Samsung which is extremely small and I have also my data there, on my keys (encrypted with veracrypt).
The real problem about Android is that we have an extremely limited support for mounting encrypted devices. Veracrypt volumes for example can be mounted from a specific application and they are difficult to use.
SD cards on Android with encryption is almost useless, as you cannot easily mount the android encrypted SDs in your PC. If your device dies, you lose your data from your SD… (if you are rootless).
Yep, we should create a donation-based market to support great people and great projects!!!
I was watching to donate on DivestOS and randomly i saw it
Google Play Security updates can only update a few things on your device. Also, they are available only on devices that have been released tha last 4 years. Only Android 11,12,13 are getting monthly security patches, but then, the vendors must build a new version for your device. Most of vendors are upgrading for 2-3 years their devices and then they stop getting security updates. With a small serch on exploitdb you can see how safe is to still using Android Kitkat in 2023.
Οh my apologies
