  • Time & effort. Everything that you do means something else doesn’t get done. Whether that be gaming with friends or an item off your project/chore list.

We know that gaming centric distros are great for getting up & running, but it’s still a time sink, and will require effort. Not everybody has a backup drive with their games and will have to re-download everything too. There’s also a risk their favorite game isn’t compatible with Linux

Windows 10 also works just fine. I still have it on 2 of my 4 computers (2/5 if you count my Deck), and haven’t switched those over yet because I’m being lazy on one and the other is a perfect candidate for the SteamOS UX experience since it’s a HTPC. However, I have done some looking around at other HTPC experiences and just haven’t pulled the trigger. Which will be awesome, since Windows did away with their HTPC UX years ago.

  • Hungarian kitchen? Wtf does this mean?

I grew up in a 2nd generation Hungarian American family and we cooked tons of cheap, and amazing foods. Goulash, paprikash, and pierogis are all “pesant/farmer” foods and are cheap as all hell, not to mention they boast amazing flavors. Additionally you can explore regional and family variantions on the recipes and never run out fresh experiences.

Paprika is amazing, use it, love it, live it.

  • Easiest way would be to use RFID tags. Many products have them hidden in their packaging already, and for those that don’t you can use a reusable RFID sticker

Image recognition would be somewhat possible, but honestly, a far more intensive process and over engineered.

All that said, this is overkill for the average home. Even me, with ADHD and forgetting what I have if I can’t see it, thinks this is a bad solution for me. I’d rather just keep my fridge at no more than 60% capacity so I can easily manage my fridge by always seeing the contents when I open it.

I love to go into these situations and soon as there’s an opening, greet everybody with, “Howdy, howdy!” in a big and friendly tone.

It is a great ice breaker. And I’m glad my grandmother taught me this when she recognized how shy/awkward I am.

Hope it’s as useful to you as it is to me.
