Many companies use geofencing on their VPN to reduce brute force attacks. If a single employee works from country X they have to put that country on the allow list, increasing spam and attack surface.

There is also the major concern of security of the laptop itself. Police/border control might force you to unlock the laptop. You are basically adding nation state industrial espionage to the threat model. It could also just get stolen. Or you connect to insecure network infrastructure …

All this is a concern in your home country as well but most companies are aware of the risks in their own country and want to avoid adding the (unknown) risks of a second country.

Absolutely love sublime. Im not entirely sure but if I remember correctly they are perfectly fine with you using it for free as along as you don’t use it commercially. I used it for free during university and then at work I just asked if they will buy me a personal license since I am much faster with sublime than without and had all my keybinds and python scrips for automation.

There is a big difference between “not keeping logs” and “dont have a way to check what you are doing right now”.

No logs just means they can’t check what you did last week but they can always check the traffic you are producing in that moment. If they see traffic from a torrent protocol they know you are torrenting.

Edit: they do claim they do “No Monitoring” so yeah by their own words they should not be able to tell you are torrenting.
