Mammals mostly don’t live that long and reptiles aren’t the most cuddely. But sloths or primates can live to 50 years. And some birds can outlive you easily with cockatoos getting to 120 years occasionally

groet@feddit.orgto Steam Deck@sopuli.xyz•With the Legion Go S, we can now directly compare performance between official builds of SteamOS and Windows245·1 month agoWindows Gamers (who will never switch to Linux)
So you accept that Linux is not the problem. We are litterally at the point where it will get mass Adoption in the next few years. That is what this post is about. That you can litterally go out and buy a fully complete gaming system preinstalled with Linux that performs better than the same system with Windows.
We are very close to the point where the only thing holding Linux gaming back is marketing.
groet@feddit.orgto Android@lemdro.id•Material Design 3 | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App RepositoryEnglish23·2 months agoAbsolutely!! Who came up with that idea. It should be a top level button not placed in ANY tab. And “latest”? That sounds like “featured apps that you might like if you are not looking for something specific”. Why would I go there if I “am looking for something specific”.
Absolutely mindboggling design…

No logs just means they can’t check what you did last week but they can always check the traffic you are producing in that moment. If they see traffic from a torrent protocol they know you are torrenting.
Edit: they do claim they do “No Monitoring” so yeah by their own words they should not be able to tell you are torrenting.
No Monitoring
We don’t monitor your activity and have no way of seeing what sites you are visiting. We do store when you last used Windscribe as well as the total amount of data used in a 30 day period (to enforce free account limitations and to prevent abuse).

They are indistinguishable. You can not watch the video without downloading it. Just normally you dont keep the file but each part of the video is discarded a few seconds after you watched it. I dont think YouTube ever went after users who watched pirated content, they only ban the channels that upload it.
Your ISP or law enforcement only see you are watching YouTube. They dont know which video and they dont know if you save it or not.
groet@feddit.orgto Linux@lemmy.ml•Will this Lenovo Thinkpad (AMD) work well with linux, or should I go intel?English257·4 months agoAMD is no problem. Only nvidea (of the big mainstream hardware manufacturers) does not supply Linux drivers.
In fact AMD will most likely make it easier than Intel if something doesn’t work. Intel pretty mutch only thinks about Winows, so if there are driver problems, there are only windows drivers to download on their website (but there shouldn’t be an problems in the first place anyway)
You almost never reach the people that are in control. They sit behind layers and layers of institutional protection, physical walls and rows of people with guns.
Demonstrations, protests, hostage takings. Always inconveniences the common people more directly than the elites in charge.
That’s what’s so interesting about recent news… it actually reached the CEO

It takes longer than remounting but getting rid of a NTFS drive in a Linux only environment is a good move.
Almost all predator animals have a territory and they will fight for that territory to keep others out. Chimpanzees and other great apes have clan wars over territory. And they have social hierarchies where some get more food than others.
There is a 100% chance early humans were fighting each other long before the invention of agriculture.
They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics.
I said, I had a theoretical degree in physics.
Pretty sure secure boot is a UEFI feature so if the board only supports BIOS then there is no secure boot anyway.
