Are you referring to The credibility of shock advocacy: Animal rights attack messages

Results indicated that PETA’s attack message against abuses at corporate pig farms was effective in eroding the credibility of the corporate food-industry raising animals for consumption. At the same time, PETA’s credibility rose overall after participants viewed the PETA attack message.

That seems to align with your argument but not with the topic. The study was focused on corporate pig farm.

The 53 participants were volunteers participating for course credit from upper division communication courses at a large public university located in an area where agribusiness interests loom large.

This is a terrible sample to base any conclusions on.

The results only give clear indication that such advocacy messages intensify already existing negative predispositions

And this indicates it is not a generally useful approach.

The study doesn’t measure how long the effect lasts; outrage is fleeting.

they should be able to post it without being denigrated about the effects of AI generated images

That’s generous of you to give this specific organization a pass on this but that’s your personal choice.

Your ability to justify it is part of why everyone else thinks peta is a joke. It’s so dogmatic it’s become a religion.

    This is myth and legend.

Mostly it was equipment being destroyed if they destroyed everything.

The main difference isstrikes weren’t just a picket line. They would take over the factory.

If we want to get serious we need to do that again. Doesn’t even have to be workers. Imagine having hundreds of peole ascend on each Starbucks and just loitering about so no real customers can get service

The police wouldn’t be able to handle that sort of mass protest.

Picket lines were the compromise. The promises are broken so the compromise needs to go away and we need to get serious.

Talk of a general strike is too large of a leap. The media has convinced many potential allies that organized labor works. People need to get a taste of the power we actually have.

Going the fence a name doesn’t make it not a fence.

I cannot opt out of being inside of fence, if I’m really lucky I might get to choose between a couple of them.

Anyone who misunderstands the issu, does so because they cannot accept their position as just another peon.

I actually like my job enough that the feeling of this meme is mostly background noise. I can still empathize because I have refused to allow the fences to beat it out of me. That is a never ending battle. It’s a pity so many have lost the battle but I get it, that ignorance does look blissful.

  • Interesting. Mine stuff is Apple TVs and I can pin libraries and unpin the defaults.

I have some of those defaults on but I confirmed I can still unpin all of them. On my devices it’s a column of three dots next to each tab.

Only ones I cannot unpin are Search and Home. Home is just a carousel for each of my pinned sources. Which differs on each device.

I rarely use the Home tab but it sounds like that is where people have the most complaints.

I use discover on one my TVs for finding new content. Told plex I have every service and then use their curated lists to watchlist content that is automatically pulled in via radarr or sonarr. If on pin it, it disappears from the home tab.

I also have a pin on live tv because someone wanted to watch local sports so I bought some used tuner thing to play around with it. The live tv interface is weird but home does respect the pin vs unpinned status.

I also noticed there are difference depending on if it’s your library or someone else’s and if the person is in the “Plex Home” a different concept than the Home tab.

I think given more time Jellyfin will likely surpass plex, it’s just not quite there yet. The plex interface is not intuitive. And there is no sign they can fix it.

Most people don’t have the comfort level to play with the options. I’ve had to walk multiple family members through pinning and unpinning each time they’ve gotten a new device.
