You can check the spot price of GDDR6 it’s nit that expensive. Also valve most likely secured their supply contract and final specs a while ago.

They really dropped the ball with only 8gb vram, it’s not like GDDR is expensive.

Honestly I’m shocked OF is even a succesful business when twitter exists. The amount of hornyposting/straight up porn accounts on there is staggering.

As a deck owner, it’s not that powerful, you’re never going to drive it at full settings on most modern games, so the size of the vram does not matter all that much.

Also, the GPU already does the cache work itself if the vram is full anyway, and GDDR is much faster than regular DDR, which is why you see stuttering on 8gb GPUs when texture resolution is pushing the limits.

With the spot price if GDDR6 modules it’s frankly disappointing to only see 8gb.

Plus, add in the fact that FSR/DLSS models take up valuable vram size to work for framegen and stuff, it reduces even more the availability for actual data.

Use Bazzite, or ChimeraOS if you do’nt care about desktop mode

Bulk pricings has increased sure, but not to the extent consumer price did. Capitalism, ho!

How much jank are you willing to deal with?

I’m a bit concerned about the vram situation. 8Gb is not a lot nowadays, particularly if you start adding stuff like ai framegen and stuff which these types of machines tend to need further down the line.

An extra 8gb wouldn’t have killed the profit margins.

I need a controller that can tell how hard I am mashing the buttons and games reacting appropriately.

Local store does quiet shopping with no music and stuff on thursdays, it’s nice

local store turns off music radio and other noises on thursdays to help people with autism and other mental issues focus. It’s actually eerily quiet but I enjoy it. It’ super weird watching how people react too. Like couples talking to each others actually whisper and stuff instead of just talking loud. Even kids are behaving and stuff. Almost as if people like quiet :D

My brain still ends up being nothing but random static noises the moment I get in though.

Meanwhile, me at the store “I ahve my list! It says cereals”
