I remember when the Nexus was the open reference device that you could play with. The Pixel is now as closed as an iPhone. Thanks Google!

Using Gmail has been a stupid idea for the past 15 years, people need to understand that though.
It is not my duty to answer every stupid idea, I ignore that.
What a stupid idea. https://tuta.com/ is 3 euros a month (the price of one American egg).
For the past 10 years (or so), reddit and lemmy users have been complaining about the updates on their Google or Samsung phones, which confirms that they use the pre-installed OS and don’t even think about switching to another OS.
I got one a few months ago. I guess the updates will stay for the next 5/7 years (shitty guess) as long as GrapheneOS stays on Android 15, but my next phone will not be a Pixel if Google does shit like that.
Google just lost themselves 900€
I bought a cheap Pixel 8a, no need to pay the full price unless you need big emulators.
The FairPhone is expensive and I’m not sure it can run Android Auto properly. If I can’t run my own OS anymore, Android will be an ugly alternative to the iPhone and I’d have to go back to iOS, it’s absolutely stupid from Google to do this.
I don’t know yet. I have a 8a and its good so far like my previous iPhone. With GrapheneOS i can prevent most applications from running in the background which is better.
No replaceable battery but any cheap Pixel with GrapheneOS. It’s secure, no Google by default, has the most standard UI possible, and Android Auto works great. This combo is the iPhone of Android IMHO. Some applications may not work for some reason but I haven’t met those yet.
I usually buy cases from Spigen but that’s just my opinion.
Safe about what? I get movies all the time and they are… movies?
If you download games and executable files, you’re an idiot, but it’s been like this for more than 20 years.
Oh I understand. I guess bots but its pretty limited by the lack of karma. It could destroy accounts on reddit but not here.
I could downvote because we’ve seen this a lot: underpowered phone that does nothing and costs as much as my Pixel that does everything. Its not technically a scam, but it feels like those magical paper notebooks that supposedly boost your productivity for some reason.
I read the article: $500 and the same battery as my phone. Definitely a scam. I would get one at $100 though.
Spotify early projects may have used the pirated MP3s of the employees so…
How is it in any way legal?
I remember that, it was all the stolen code https://github.com/aenu1/aps3e/issues/1
