[email protected] is dead. Long live [email protected].

Also sorry in advance for all the pictures I uploaded on that account getting snapped after the shutdown.

As one of the many, who had to abandon their feddit.de account last year, I feel you.

I took it as a chance to make a better username and give myself a profile pic. Switched to piefed, and… I’m still unsure about it.

Blahaj.zone has both a lemmy and a piefed option, so that’s one of the reasons why I went with them. Plus, it seems to be one of the most accepting and transparent of the bunch.

Aren’t the lemmy and piefed accounts two separate things, even if they’re at the same domain, or is there something I’m missing? To me, this comment looks like it’s coming from Lemmy, are you saying that you posted this from Piefed?

No, I’m using a lemmy account, but the instance I am using offers to let you have a lemmy and Piefed account in the same place. So if you wanted to switch between the two, it’s easy.

Lemmy still does not have a mechanism for migrating posts? It’s 2025 already.

Hopefully nothing of this sort happens to SDF… I am too lazy to make an account in my country lemmy

it’s particularly baffling because mastodon has a decent account migration feature, i don’t think it necessarily migrates posts but if i understand activitypub correctly you sorta get that just by saying “@[email protected] has moved to @[email protected]”

I was able to migrate everything else, so I’m guessing it’s up to the instance host to provide that data. I managed to export a .json of all my subscriptions, profile info, etc… so I guess it’s just a structural issue with how images and posts are shared.

Can’t complain about lemm.ee as a service though, they’ve been upfront about the whole thing.

https://lemmy.zip/ is a solid choice. Similar moderation policy than lemm.ee.

      Monthly reports: https://lemmy.zip/post/39959863

Lots of lemm.ee users moving there: https://lemmy.zip/post/40323214

If you are in the UK (where lemmy.zip is geoblocked due to UK laws), https://feddit.uk/ is a good option.

Already moved from lemm.ee to db0 and the only thing I have pending is somehow migrating my posts. Fortuntately I don’t post images (or, when I do, I only post links).

Yeah happened to me too. Took some time to refresh my account and to start anew with a clean slate. Still sucks though.

I ended up in lemmy.ml as it gives me access to the broadest amount of servers.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren’t unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don’t rush mod actions. If a case doesn’t need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
