There aren’t 2 nuclear armed empires facing each other down and fighting proxy wars in poorer parts of the world. Instead there are multiple smaller nuclear armed empires facing off and fighting real wars with the crumbling husks of NATO and the soviets acting like they still have spheres of total control and ideological backing while their citizens struggle to get by.
Sounds like a great upgrade history definitely ended in 1991.
