I read that that little “mrew” that they do is only for humans. They are specifically trying to talk to us. They don’t do that with other cats.
Cats only really meow at their parents when they’re kittens. So cats might be meowing at us since they see us as their parents.
(That’s just from another comment here, so take it with a gain of salt)

Only sit so far, but I’m working on adding to her repertoire.
I bought that automatic feeder. Never could get it to work.
I’ve had it for a couple years now, I like it.
